Associate Professor Grant Blashki is a respected figure in the field of climate change and health, holding positions as Associate Professor at the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute.
As a practising general practitioner and public health communicator, he has also previously served as the Lead Clinical Advisor for Beyond Blue. Dr. Blashki is well-known for his media presence, having engaged with TV, radio, and print media over 500 times in the past five years. His research interests lie in the intersection of sustainability and public health, with a particular focus on the mental health impacts of climate change. He has made significant academic contributions, co-authoring 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals and nine books, including “Climate Health and Courage.” In addition, he has played a crucial role in education, training over 400 master’s students in Planetary and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Dr. Blashki is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has demonstrated leadership in environmental health as a Board Director of the Australian Conservation Foundation, a mentor in the Al Gore Climate Leadership Project, a co-founder of Doctors for the Environment Australia, and as former Chair of the World Organisation of Family Doctors’ Environment and Health Group.
