Matthew Charles-Jones is president of Totally Renewable Yackandandah (TRY) – a passionate and innovative community group committed to powering their town with 100% renewable energy by 2022.
Most recently TRY has helped the Yackandandah Health Service improve its energy efficiency and to install 90kW of solar panels. It joins a long list of community buildings installing rooftop solar, including the community-owned petrol station, the primary school, the kindergarten, neighbourhood house, council depot and offices, museum and the new Men’s Shed.
Matthew developed a passion for the outdoors while growing up in a peaceful river valley in North East Victoria. This passion led to the construction of a low embodied energy, passive solar home in Yackandandah.
