Monica Oliphant runs her own consultancy ‘Monica Oliphant Research Scientist’. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Australia, and a University Fellow at Charles Darwin University.
For 18 years, she worked for electricity utility ETSA as a research scientist and was President of the International Solar Energy Society in 2008-09. Monica received an AO in 2015 in recognition of her work in renewable energy and was named 2016 Senior South Australian of the Year.
She has participated on a number of Australian federal and state government expert committees, and is currently evaluating the viability of a community-owned solar and energy efficiency project in conjunction with local government.
In 2015-16 she was a team leader of a multi-national group looking at the feasibility of establishing a UN University in renewable energy in China. She is also Patron of crowd-funding group CORENA (Citizens Own Renewable Energy Network Australia).
