Champion: a person who vigorously supports or defends a person or cause
Our Climate Council Champions play a crucial role in powering our strategic interventions and priority projects. By making a significant annual contribution of $1,000 or more to the Climate Council, our Champions are amplifying diverse voices in the national climate conversation, supporting us to call out misinformation and influencing climate policy at the state and local level.
Climate Council Champions receive:
- Access to exclusive events
- Online or in-person briefings from our Climate Councillors and staff
- First offer to join our adventure trips like the SA Renewables Roadtrip and the Tassie Trek for Climate Action
- Copies of our Impact Report, so you can track how you’re contributing to climate change action.
- Input into our strategic direction

Funding from Climate Champions gives us the certainty we need to plan ahead and develop ambitious new projects, like our new Cities Power Partnership. We can only be ambitious in tackling climate change because we have champions committed to powering our impact.
Champions Exclusive Resources
Gas Campaign Webinar
In mid-2020, the Climate Council launched a targeted campaign to drive Australia’s transition away from gas. In this webinar, our Champions were joined by Campaigns Director Alix Pearce and Campaigner Louis Brailsford who outlined the Climate Council’s strategy and presented an update on the challenges and successes we’ve had working to increase Australians understanding of gas as a polluting and expensive fossil fuel.
Summer Outlook Webinar
To end 2020, we held one final Champions webinar focused on the summer weather outlook. Climate Council Researcher Dr Simon Bradshaw took us through what weather we can expect to see across Australia this summer, and importantly what forces are driving these conditions. Drawing on her experience as a former Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive of Fire & Rescue NSW, Rosemary Milkins shared her learnings on why we react to emergency situations in the way that we do and how best to prepare ourselves in the face of bushfires, floods and storms.
Clean Jobs Plan Briefing
In July 2020, the Climate Council launched our brand new report Clean Jobs Plan, a detailed piece of economic modelling by Alpha Beta outlining the opportunity to get 76,000 Australians into work over the next three years. Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie and Climate Solutions Researcher Ella Weisbrot held an exclusive briefing on the report for the Climate Council Champions.
