Associate Professor Renate Egan leads the UNSW activity at the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics, working in partnership with ANU, UQ, CSIRO, University of Melbourne and Monash University on the next generation of photovoltaics.
She is Chair of the Australian PV Institute and represents Australia on the Executive Committee of the IEA PV Power Systems program.
Renate’s 25-year career in solar energy spans industry, university and not-for-profits. She has managed technology development in Australia and Germany and led industrial research projects with China.
Renate is also co-founder of Australian company Solar Analytics – Australia’s largest independent energy monitoring provider. In earlier roles, as Director and CTO of CSG Solar AG and Managing Director of Suntech R&D Australia Pty Ltd.
A mother of two teenagers, Renate is passionate about using her skills and knowledge to make a positive difference in the world through increased uptake of solar energy.
