Thea Ormerod is a Sydney-based practising Catholic and the current President of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC), a multi-faith advocacy organisation that has the support of a number of peak bodies of diverse faiths.
In her role at ARRCC, Thea works to create unified faith-based support across Australia to push policy makers towards credible climate action, based on the principle that life is sacred and at risk.
Thea has been actively involved in the justice and ecology sectors for more than 30 years, and has extensive experience in social justice as a social worker and a long-term anti-poverty campaigner. This led to an interest in global warming when she saw its impact on some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
Her views of climate change as a moral and religious issue is what drives her to fight for a fair and sustainable international society.
